The Association of Volunteer Guardians of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors in the Tuscany Region was established in Florence on 9 February 2019. It is a voluntary and democratic ODV and does not pursue profit-making activities. It is secular, non-partisan and independent and is inspired by the values of freedom and equality of the Italian Constitution, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
The main purpose of the Association is to bring together the volunteer guardians of Tuscany, operating pursuant to Law no. 47/2017, which carry out the function of legal representation, protection and support for unaccompanied foreign minors present in the territory.
The Association was born from the need for discussion and support between guardians, through the sharing of experiences of daily practice and the common resolution of critical issues encountered in the exercise of our function. For us, being an association also means being able to relate to the numerous local and national actors as a single entity, as a single voice that represents common requests.
The Association promotes and protects the rights of unaccompanied foreign minors and encourages their growth, autonomy and integration into society.
Volunteer guardians of UASC registered in the lists at the Juvenile Court of Florence and citizens who share its statutory purposes can join the Association.
